AGRI MYANMAR 2018 – Myanmar’s No.1 International Agriculture Production Industry Exhibition and Conference is set to be held at the MEP Mindama Hall, Yangon from 6 – 8 December 2018 to capture the vast opportunities of growth and development available in the Agriculture production industry.

Myanmar, an agro-based country, where the Agriculture sector accounts for 40% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is a source of livelihood for over 70% of the rural population. Abundant in land and massive labour resources, Myanmar’s performance in this sector oers rewarding opportunities for successful development.

Emerging from the depths of isolation after decades, where the agricultural sector has faced extensive government controls and underinvestment, Myanmar is now opening its doors to the outside world. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimated Myanmar’s GDP to be 6.7%, an acceleration compared with last year’s gure of 5.9%, as a result of the country’s recovering but booming agriculture sector.

As recently as of December 2017, Myanmar’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MoALI) launched Myanmar’s Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Protocol and Guidelines to boost the productivity and protability of farmers through sustainable farming. This positive step is aimed at improving access to quality agricultural inputs, that would help farmers develop sustainable practices. Thus, with steps such as GAP Protocol and Guidelines, the Myanmar Government is ercely bolstering the productivity and competitiveness of the Agricultural sector.
